KACY DELONG
Delong Designs Metalworking
I want to share a bit about how DeLong Designs came to be. My best friend of nearly 30 years (that's right, we've been friends since forever) gave my husband the best gift in the world: a new beginning in the form of a donated kidney. This gift also provided me the opportunity and the courage to start something new, something big. Now, I'm ready to be bold... thanks to this amazing person I'm lucky enough to call Donor Dave.
This is the reason I'm using a portion of any profit I make to help fund kidney disease research. Another big goal of mine is to increase awareness of organ donation. This is all possible because of the generosity of the most amazing person I know.
When it was confirmed that Dave could donate a kidney to Thomas, they were both super-excited (we all were). They started making all sorts of plans about the antics they'd get up to while they were in the hospital. They were a little fazed when the clinic informed them that there was a policy that wouldn't allow them to be roommates. They got over it when they decided that it would be a competition for who got vertical first and could visit the other one down the hall. Dave was the winner of that challenge, but only because Thomas had to have a second surgery to keep the new kidney healthy. When they first saw each other, they were too sore to properly hug, so they settled for a fist-bump and I settled for crying like a baby.
